Special Desserts in Italy

Panna Cotta

Panna Cotta is an Italian creamy dessert. Panna Cotta is a dessert made with fresh fruits sauce: strawberries, kiwis or mango and has a jelly consistency, based on heavy cream and cream caramel. It is a perfect dessert for the hot summers.

Torta di Mele

Torta di Mele is an usual apple cake, but more succulent having also some pine nuts near the apples. It is a dessert you can order in almost each Italian cafeteria.

Tiramisù

Tiramisu is literally “Pick me up” and is a new culinary discovery from the 1980s.
At home in Italy, people will often use raw eggs, beating the yolks with the sugar and mascarpone, then folding the whites in very gently.

Budino cremoso

Traditionally is an Italian crème caramel, “budino”, and is made in a large mould, not little individual moulds. It makes for a more spectacular sight when it it served and contains lemon juice and orange juice.

Schiacciata con l’Uva

A very special and unique dessert is made in Tuscany. The Tuscan Grape Cake is a complex-flavoured but simple cake receipt and it is only made for a few week a year, when the small, sweet, seedy red grapes are around (many are “gleaned” in the vineyards after the harvest).
